Brian Thomas Grazer (born July 12, 1951) is an American film and television producer. He founded Imagine Entertainment in 1986, along with Ron Howard. The films they produce have earned $ 13 billion more. The films include the four that Grazer personally nominated for the Academy Award: Splash (1984), Apollo 13 (1995), A Beautiful Mind (2001 ), and Frost/Nixon (2008). His films and TV series were nominated for 43 Academy Awards, and 187 Emmys.

In 2002, Grazer won an Oscar for Best Picture for A Beautiful Mind (shared with Ron Howard). In 2007, he was named as one of the Time ' s "100 Most Powerful People in the World".

Grazer was born in Los Angeles, California, to Arlene Becker Grazer and criminal defense lawyer Thomas Grazer. He is the older brother of Nora Beth Grazer (born 1952) and actor/director Gavin Grazer (born 1956). He grew up in Sherman Oaks and Northridge, in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles.

Mrs. Grazer is a Jew and her father is Catholic, and she describes herself in 2000 as "half-Jewish". Raised secular, today Grazer is a practicing Christian. His parents divorced when he was in high school. Grazer said, "My friend, the most important person in my growing time, is my little 4- to 10-year-old grandmother, and she says, 'To get it, you have to do it.No one will go get it for you, Brian.' "

His niece is actor Jack Dylan Grazer.

Education

Grazer won a scholarship to the University of Southern California (USC) as a psychology major. He graduated from USC School of Cinema-Television in 1974. He then studied at USC Law School for a year, but quit in 1975 to pursue life in Hollywood.

Careers

Grazer began his career as a producer who developed a television project. While an executive production TV pilot at Paramount Pictures in the early 1980s, he met his old friend and business partner, Ron Howard.

He produced his first films, Night Shift, in 1982, directed by Howard. Grazer and Howard worked together again for Splash in 1984, produced and co-authored by Grazer. Splash earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1984.

In 1986, Grazer and Howard co-founded Imagine Entertainment, which became one of Hollywood's most productive and successful production companies. Over the years, films and TV shows Grazer have been nominated for a total of 43 Academy Awards, and 131 Emmys. At the same time, his films have generated over $ 13.5 billion in theatrical, music, and video theaters around the world.

The early successes of the Grazer film included Parenthood (1989) and Backdraft (1991). He produced Apollo 13 (1995), where he won the Producer Producer of America's Daryl F. Zanuck Motion Picture Producer of the Year Award, as well as an Oscar nomination for Best Picture of 1995.

Grazer's production spans more than a quarter of a century, and almost the entire spectrum of the movie genre. His comics include Boomerang (1992), The Nutty Professor (1996), Life (1999), Dr. Seuss' How Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), Abuses Not Intolerant (2003) and Dilemma (2011). He has also produced many dramatic thrillers including Inside Man (2006), The Da Vinci Code (2006), American Gangster (2007), < i> Changeling (2008), Angels & amp; Demons (2009), Robin Hood (2010), and Cowboys & amp; Aliens (2011). His recently released films include J. Edgar, Clint Eastwood biopic from J. Edgar Hoover, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tower Heist , starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy , and Restless , directed by Gus Van Sant.

Bayer Imagine Entertainment's television series include Evening Sports , Felicity , Arrested Development , 24 with Kiefer Sutherland, Friday Night Lights , Parenthood , Lying to me , and Empire.

Grazer's recent productions include the Grammy Award-winning Best Music Movie 2017 The Beatles: Eight Days Week (2016), American Made (2017), Rush (2013), directed by Ron Howard, and starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel BrÃÆ'¼hl, and Made in America .

Grazer produces the Get Above , a biography from the legendary "Godfather of Soul" James Brown, and At Heart of the Sea , directed by Ron Howard and starring Chris Hemsworth, about the American general, Essex .

In 2015 Grazer published his book A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life, where he discussed conversations with interesting people, many of whom inspired his work.

Personal life

Grazer has been married four times and divorced three times: to Theresa McKay (1972-79), Corki Corman (1982-92), they have two children: Riley's son (born 1986) and daughter of Sage (1988)), and novelist and screenwriter Teeth Levangie (1997-2007; they have two sons; Thomas (1999) and Patrick (2004)). In April 2014, Grazer was engaged to Veronica Smiley, SBE's chief marketing officer, a hotel management company. They got married on February 20, 2016.

Grazer currently lives in Santa Monica, California. He also owns a home in Hawaii on Sunset Beach, on Banzai Pipeline on O'ahu's North Shore.
