Clermont is a town in Lake County, Florida, United States, about 22 miles (35 km) west of Orlando and 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Leesburg. The population is 30,201 in 2013. The city is residential and its economy is centered on retail trade, lodging, and tourism-oriented restaurants and bars. This is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Clermont is home to the 1956 Florida Citrus Tower, one of Florida's first landmarks.

According to the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of ââ11.5 square miles (30 km 2 ), of which 10.5 square miles (27 km 2 ) is ground and 1.0 square miles (2.6 km 2 ) (8.54%) is water.
The Clermont area is located in the northern part of Ridge Lake Wales. There are atypical hills on the Florida peninsula. Nearby are Clermont Chain of lakes and Lake Apopka.

History
Clermont was founded in 1884 and is named for the French birthplace of the Clermont Improvement Company manager, A.F. Wrotniski. The city was founded in 1916.
Historic appearance in the city center has not changed much since 1962.
The population grew by 207% from 2000 to 2010, with equal economic growth, attracting large box retail stores. In the spring of 2010, Clermont Landings shopping center opened with 20 shops and restaurants and theaters first in the city. Increased pollution has affected urban lakes and other natural resources.

City's racial makeup is 71.69% White, 14.41% African American, 0.42% Native Americans, 4.19% Asian, 5.37% of other races, and 3.83% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 17.75% of the population.
21.28% of households have children under 18 living with them, 55.1% are married couples living together, 10.3% have non-husbands female households, and 31.5% are non-family. 26.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.5% ââhad someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.73.

Waterfront Park is located along Lake Minneola, The park includes a picnic area, a swim area, fishing pier, and a playground. There are rental paddleboards, kayaks, and bicycles. The fitness trail which is part of the 30 mile system runs through the park.
