"Imagination Destination (DI) is a non-profit organization that runs a global program that presents a series of challenges and project-based groups of children from around the world choose a problem to address work in teams." These teams spent months preparing in their home towns. Top groups gather together for Destination Imagination Global Finals annually, held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.

The goal stated by the organization is to be a leading nonprofit education dedicated to teaching students the skills needed to succeed in school, their careers and beyond. They develop a project-based learning program that combines STEM education (science, technology, engineering and math) with art and social entrepreneurship.

Through their program, students use the creative process to turn their ideas into reality and learn invaluable skills through the process including: Creative & Critical Thinking, Team Building, Problem Solving, Risk Taking, Project Management, Perseverance, & amp; Confidence.

Overall, Imagination Goals is a nonprofit organization led by volunteers who teach 21st century skills and STEM principles to kindergarten through university-level students through creative and collaborative problem-solving challenges. Team members work together to develop solutions for one of 7 open challenges and present their solutions in the tournament. Through the Challenge program, students learn and experience the creative process of imagination for innovation and learning the skills needed to succeed in school, career and life, including teamwork, communication, project management, perseverance, creative and critical thinking, and confidence.

The Odyssey of the Mind Program was founded in 1978 in Glassboro, NJ. This academic competition is a joint venture between two companies-Creative Competitions Inc. & amp; OM Association in Glassboro, NJ. The Creative Competition, a non-profit educational publishing company, develops materials for the competition. The OM Association, a non-profit company, runs the tournament.

Destination imagination emerges as a result of disputes centered around whether the OM should be governed by a nonprofit or nonprofit group. On September 24, 1999 both groups reached an agreement in which the Creative Competition would retain intellectual property rights and both organizations would sponsor separate creative competitions. During the dispute, some Odyssey volunteers formed another problem-solving organization, Purpose Imagination, because they feared a legal dispute would either hold back this year's competition or end the program altogether. About 180 volunteers from around the world, joined Dr. Patricia Schoonover, Founding Executive Director, to create a new program. The Imagination Objectives are then combined with the OM Association "to help unite its volunteers and make (our group) a world-class superior problem-solving program for students," says OM Association Executive Director Robert Purifico.

Academic Study of Program Results

In 2011, researchers from the University of Virginia Curry School of Education conducted an independent research evaluation of the DI program. Evaluation focuses on program effectiveness, impact and participant satisfaction in areas related to creative problem solving, creative and critical thinking, teamwork and leadership. Among other findings, the researchers reported, "Students who participated in activities and tournaments provided by DI beat comparable students who did not participate in DI on judgments measuring creative thinking, critical thinking and collaborative problem solving."

The Creative Learning Center in Sarasota, FL conducts research covering topics ranging from participant satisfaction to perceived benefits. According to the results they obtained, "Satisfaction and enthusiasm for the Destination ImagiNationÃ,® program is very high as reported by the respondents in all samples." Over 90% of participants reported high moderate satisfaction, while only 7.5% reported low Limited satisfaction. So far, the lion's share of this section is a very negative response because of the time commitment required. In the "Tell other adults" question, 141 (or 42%) of TM respondents (Team Managers) describe the role as a demand and involve a large number of jobs. The statements show that, while the program requires a large commitment of time, energy, and patience, respondents consider the effort valuable.

Challenge Program

The Challenge Team is designed by educational professionals, artists, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, & amp; other volunteers from various backgrounds. In August of each year, Destination Imagination releases seven new challenges, related to the various areas of material that the team must complete. The team then has up to the date of their first tournament to work on the challenge. All challenges include portion of presentation, coaching or improvisation. The types of team challenges include technical, scientific, art, improvisation, structural, service learning, and early learning challenges. Each of the seven challenges in the DI program is designed to enable students to develop 21st century skills, including teamwork, persistence, independent learning, courage and leadership. While working as a team to find solutions, students also learn to appreciate each person's abilities and unique strengths.

Types of Team Challenges

Each year, Imagination Goals releases seven challenges that are tailored to specific learning objectives. These challenges are then solved by the team.

Technical

The Technical Challenge requires the team to build equipment, such as vehicles, to solve their challenges. They should also include performance, in some form or about common topics that are included with the challenge. In addition, the challenge requires the team to create unique elements unique to the team that will be counted as the Team's Element Choice. Teams will be evaluated based on their creativity and originality, quality, workmanship and effort, and integration of elements into the presentation. Typically, Elements of Team Choice accounts for 15% of the team score. The Team Choice Element can be anything selected by the team, as long as it is not a scoring element.

Scientific

The Scientific Challenge requires the team to do research on certain aspects of science, and then make performance based on it. Sometimes, there are also special requirements to build a certain kind of prop or costume. In addition, the challenge requires the team to create two unique elements unique to the team that will be counted as the Team's Element Choice. The team will be evaluated on creativity and originality, quality, workmanship and effort, and integration of elements into presentations. Typically, Elements of Team Choice accounts for 15% of the team score. The Team Choice Element can be anything selected by the team, as long as it is not a scoring element.

Fine Arts

The Fine Arts Challenge requires the team to create and portray performances that show some theatrical techniques. May use a particular presentation method or to create a specific prop type. In addition, the challenge requires the team to create two unique elements unique to the team that will be counted as the Team's Element Choice. The team will be evaluated on creativity and originality, quality, workmanship and effort, and integration of elements into presentations. Typically, Elements of Team Choice accounts for 15% of the team score. The Team Choice Element can be anything selected by the team, as long as it is not a scoring element.

Improvisation

The Improvisational Challenge requires the team to think about their feet and make a comedy drama in a short period of time, and then present it. There is usually a theme, of some sort, as well as a prop requirement that requires the team to create or combine different props. The team will also be evaluated for teamwork in this challenge.

Engineering

The Technical Challenge requires the team to create structures, with material and weight requirements, as well as the accompanying performance that relates to several aspects of the structure. The structure is scored using a weight held ratio (WHR), where the weight held in the tournament is divided over the weight of the structure, to create a fair team structure comparison. Some years, there are additional elements that should be incorporated by the team into their structure, such as holding a golf ball. By performing these additional tasks, the team may receive additional weight held by the credit. In addition, the challenge requires the team to create two unique elements unique to the team that will be counted as the Team's Element Choice. The team will be evaluated on creativity and originality, quality, workmanship and effort, and integration of elements into presentations. Typically, Elements of Team Choice accounts for 15% of the team score. The Team Choice Element can be anything selected by the team, as long as it is not a scoring element.

Service Learning

The Service Learning Challenge, also known as projectOUTREACH, requires the team to do service projects that benefit their community, and then make the performance to display in the tournament. Challenges always have themes that the team must incorporate into their comedy drama, or the way they run their projects. For some program seasons, the challenge requires the team to create two unique elements unique to the team that will be counted as the Team's Element Choice. The team will be evaluated on creativity and originality, quality, workmanship and effort, and integration of elements into presentations. Typically, Elements of Team Choice accounts for 15% of the team score. The Team Choice Element can be anything selected by the team, as long as it is not a scoring element.

Preliminary Learning

For children 4 to 7 years of age, Destination Imagination offers a new star! for Early Learning Challenges. This challenge encourages children to be creative and uncompetitive, allowing children to play and experiment with their solutions without stress. Children can also participate in the showcase option, which allows them to present their solutions in tournaments.

Team Challenge History

1999-2000 Years Program

In the first season of Imagination Goals, they offer an additional challenge that is not offered in the coming years.

Fruit Roller Coaster

The team must create a roller coaster that will move the tennis ball as quickly as possible. A sensation element is required, in which the team must create special pieces, such as circles, or jumps to meet challenge requirements. A show that includes elements of improvisation, and artistic is also a requirement of the challenge. The 10 minute deadline and the cost limit is US $ 100.

Mixed Apples and Oranges

The challenge requires the team to tell the story of adoption between two different species. In addition, teams should demonstrate challenges of parenting, and utilize recordings from adopted children or photo albums. The story must end with the return of the creature to its original species. There is an 8 minute time limit and a US $ 100 charge limit.

If Music Become Food of Life, Play At

Teams must create music stories that have no written or spoken language. Team performance should visually represent the five human senses. A team creates a musical instrument to be integrated into the presentation. Prop or pieces of scenery should physically change her appearance during the show. There is a 6 minute time limit and a US $ 100 charge limit.

Instant Pudding Improv

A list of twelve famous people and twelve famous places is provided for the team to be examined. One of each category will be randomly selected as the required element of performance. The team must provide ten items, one of which will be randomly selected as the required element of performance. The team will have 30 minutes to create and practice their story, and they are up to 6 minutes to present it.

This Is Not No Power

Teams must create structures, made only of pastes and glue, to withstand as much weight as possible. Weights to the structure should be applied outside the center. A story that requires artistic, performance and improvisational elements is also part of the challenge. The presentation deadline is 8 minutes and the cost limit is US $ 100.

Eggsploration

Teams must build tools to transport eggs through obstacles, without destroying them. Two additional constraints must be built by the team. A show with the overall theme of all the equipment is also required. The 10 minute deadline and the cost limit is US $ 100.

2000-2001 Year Program

Technology Effects Increase

The team must research and create four special effects. Special effects should be included in a story.

Mystery Loving Company

The team must write and present a mystery story that uses unique communication methods, and incorporates scientific experiments.

Anonymously You

The team must search and select the artwork produced by an unknown person. They must make a story using the characteristics of the era that the artwork was produced, and tell the story of the artist. An element of technology that uses technology from that era is necessary.

Dinamic Improv

The team has an hour on "StuDIo" (the training area) to plan and train their story. In addition, research on renowned innovators, cultural artists and important landmarks is needed. Some of each will be randomly requested in the presentation.

Triplicity

The team must create a three-piece structure made of balsa wood, paper, and glue, which will be tested in the tournament. The team also has to make a story about the trip.

2001-2002 Year Program

It Move You

The theme of this challenge is the board game. Teams must build vehicles to serve as "games". The Object Delivery Tool must also be produced by the team, to deliver objects to the team-built receiver. All equipment and performances must have a theme. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips". An improvisational element is also needed in team performance.

StranDId

It takes a story about being stranded. The team had to build a StranDId DIvice that incorporated a simple machine into a complicated machine, which had to do the task while the team was stranded. The team had to use 2 regular items in a unique way during the show. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips". An improvisational element is also needed in team performance.

Holiday Moments

The team must write and present a show about traveling to a nation, in addition to their own, for a holiday. In the show, two different interpretations of the nation's attributes must be integrated. In addition, at least one costume and one set are required, in addition to props or pieces of scenery that are under change to help interpret the attributes. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips", and improvisational elements are also needed in team performance.

Art Improv

The team must make a story to appear in the tournament within 30 minutes of the time StuDIo is provided. Four necessary elements are required in the show, including teams that create works of art based on famous artwork, situations, improvisation techniques, information gathered from famous explorations. In StuDIo time, teams must select one specific item to be rated as a "side trip". Then, one minute before the presentation, the team had to pull out the surprise character caps to use in their performances.

Dual DIlemma

The team must build two structures to test in the tournament. One must be built first of balsa wood, paper and glue. One must be built during presentation time in the tournament using balsa wood and tape. Teams must write and present contrasting stories with two different parts. Contrasting costumes and props must also be built. Three elements of the team's choice are scored as "side trips" and improvisational elements are also needed in team performance.

Season 2002-2003

In the 2002-2003 Season, Goal Imagination began to offer the Early Rising Stars Learning Challenge.

Changes in the board of directors

The team must design and build 2 different technical devices that can be built from the same set of parts. Teams must disassemble and reassemble parts for transition from one device to another. The team must build a transport system to move parts from one assembly area to the next. There are performance elements that require stories relating to devices and tasks. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips", and improvisational elements are needed in the show.

ViDIo Adventure

The team must create a three-dimensional themed adventure video game that tells the story of modern-day search. The team must design a "seeker", who will travel through 3 countries represented as a level in the video game. At a point in every level, teams must collect prizes that will help them complete their quest. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips", and improvisational elements are needed in the show.

Theater Smarts

The team had to make a show with the Screwed in it, and then figure out how to recover it. Three examples of theater arts are required in this performance. A scene that moves or gives the illusion of motion is also required. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips", and improvisational elements are needed in the show.

Once Upgrade

The team must read 10 classic tales and choose the literary elements of each. In the tournament, teams will be given 30 minutes of StuDIo Time to plan and practice their 6 minute performance. The team must combine the Randomly Selected Shock Settings with some of the literary elements under investigation. During StuDIo Time, participants must build Unique Functional Objects from cassettes and newspapers to use in their performances. Just before the show's time, the team had to utter a sentence made from three alphabet letters randomly selected.

ConnecDId

The team must make the whole structure of the wood to be tested in the tournament. In addition to the structure, the team must write and present an 8 minute long sketch of the connection. The team must also create Universal Connection Creation for use in their performance in various ways. Three elements of the team's choice are rated as "side trips", and improvisational elements are needed in the show.

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team must make a story about losing something, and then find it. Some characters are asked to create a plan. Teams must create maps to use in their performance to help locate missing objects. One element of the team's choice is rated as a "side trip".

Season 2003-2004

DestiNations in Time

Teams must build unique time devices to use in their performance. During the show, the team must perform the task on time. An international story about the effects of you that can change the time required.

Plot and Pendulum

The team must create and present a story about a story divided into 2, both of which have a separate end and a similar beginning. The Pendulum Diverter plot should also be created by the team. Pengalau must signal the separation of the story.

Cartoon DImensions

The team must create a "cartoon story" that becomes real in 3D. Sound and visual effects must be integrated into the presentation.

Optimistic Upgrade

The team will have 30 minutes to plan and practice their performance at StuDIo. Instruments created by the team should be included in the presentation. The show must include music.

GuessDImate

The team must build structures of wood and glue, and then guess how much weight it can hold before adding weight. Bonus points will be awarded if the estimate is within a certain range.

Surprise Trip

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team had to make a story about a pre-planned adventure. The detours must change the adventure, and change the end of the story.

The 2004-2005 season

Derby Dying

The team must build a vehicle with a technical energy source that will race on a triangle racing track while carrying team members. The team built twisted-some teams designed, some designed by challenge-will be placed around the track. Teams may choose to try them for additional points. Harder play will receive more points. Points will be awarded for round completion, and the detour is complete. A skit about all the elements of this challenge must be created. The 3 elements selected by the team will be rated as side-trips.

Live! This is RaDIo DI

Teams must create and present stories as live radio broadcasts. Live sound effects should be put into live events. The team must create a "cliffhanger", before "ad breaks". Ads created by teams must include jingle and outrageous claims. Randomly selected improvisational elements should be included as news bulletins. The three elements that the team chooses will be rated as side-trips.

Sudden SerenDIpity

The team must make a story about finding or creating something by accident. Two inventions should be presented. One early, and one coincidence was created by the initial invention. The technical tool should perform the task in a few steps during the show. The impact of the invention created as a result must be interpreted from more than one view. The 3 elements selected by the team will be rated as side-trips.

Upgrade All

The team must examine 12 types of transportation before the tournament, one of which, chosen by the tournament, should be incorporated into the show. A six minute comedy drama must be made during StuDIo's 30 minutes. The team will randomly select events, provided by the tournament, to be incorporated into the comedy drama. One of four travel games should be incorporated into the comedy drama. Invisible props must be entered.

Positioning Bridges

The team must build bridges of wood, monofilament fishing wire and glue, to be tested in tournaments. Points will be awarded for bridges based on their lengths multiplied by their weight. The team must predict what will happen when the weights are stacked on the bridge. Bridge design should incorporate bridge design elements from other countries. The challenge requires the team to connect to a country that has design elements from within the presentation. The 3 elements selected by the team will be rated as side-trips.

More to Story

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team must choose a famous fable or fable. The team must write and present the show about what happens after the story ends.

Season 2005-2006

Return to you

The challenge asks the team to create a delivery device to move tennis and ping pong balls from one zone to the next, and the device to return them to the starting zone. The process of going, and back should be incorporated into the performance of the created team. The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

Kidz Rulz

The challenge asks the team to bend the rules of motion within the team that create the performance. A team that created a demonstration of this broken rule should be included in the show. How Happened?

A story about an unusual event in a country other than the team itself is required in the presentation. The team must choose to present the show in 1 of 8 ways, mentioned in the challenge. A hat that changes the wearer's hat in a dramatic way should be in the show. The technical method should cause "strange incident". The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

In Safari

The team will have 30 minutes of StuDIo time in the tournament to sketch 6 minutes about the safari. The team must examine 6 different environments, and 6 different living populations. One of them will be randomly selected, and asked to be included in the performance. Original innovative devices, improvisation techniques, randomly chosen Dashboard, targets, and symbols should all be included in the sketch.

Inside Dimensions

2 structure must be created. One must fit inside the other. The structure will be tested for the weight held simultaneously. The team must look at an architect. Characters representing creations created by architects. This character should tell the story of the architect from his perspective. The story should include the "Elements of Life and Times" selected from the list provided by the challenge. The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

1-2-Modify-A-Roo

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team must create a game that has a number in it. In addition, the Team must create a buffer from newspapers and ribbons and supporting tools that can be used by team members.

Season 2006-2007

Direct flight

The team will build the plane before the tournament, landing in the zone. One must be built in tournaments only from a piece of paper. In the tournament, the team will draw a card where the plane should land. Up to 3 lifts must be produced to launch the aircraft. The team must tie all elements of a common challenge in a show. The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

CSI: IN

The team must write and perform a comedy drama in which a case is investigated, and completed with evidence. The characters are colorful, and the character of the shadow is needed in the show. Theatrical effects that include Color, Shadow, and/or illumination are required in skits. Gadgets that analyze a piece of evidence using visual light are required. The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

Role About Courage

The team had to make a story about a heroic adventure, and present it as a theater in a round. A set of technical sets or props should be integrated into performance. No electricity can be used in the show. The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

TraDITions Redirects

The team will be given 30 minutes to sketch 6 minutes to display. Research 6 different countries and their traditions are required, because 3 of the country/traditions will be needed in team performance. Her appearance requires 3 scenes. Each scene must include one of 3 traditions. Randomly selected situations and sensory cards will be selected to integrate into performance. One improvisation technique should be incorporated into the show. A traDItioner must be made from material brought to the tournament, and put in a comedy drama.

CarDIology

A structure created only from playing cards and glue is required. It will be tested in the tournament. Architectural drawings of structures must be brought to the tournament. A story about the impact of a card on a character is required to be presented. The 2 elements selected by the team will be assessed as side-trips.

Create New! It's up to you

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team must create a game in which a landmark changes. Props that make sounds to change landmarks should be incorporated into skits. One character must wear a hat made of newspaper.

2007-2008 season

Obstacle, Of course

Teams must create vehicles to overcome obstacles the team makes. Non-verbal presentation of overcoming obstacles must also be created. The 2 elements of the selected team will be rated as a side trip.

Hit or Myth

Teams must create stories involving myths, urban legends, or folklore that occur in other countries. Investigations of myths, urban legends, or folk tales should be included and presented in team presentations. The 2 elements of the selected team will be rated as a side trip.

DI've Got Secret

The team must write and present a story about a secret. Optical illusions and three sets of sets should be incorporated into presentations. The 2 elements of the selected team will be rated as a side trip.

Chorific

The team has 30 minutes to make a 6 minute presentation about the task at the tournament. Two random hurdles associated with the task should be included in the presentation. Improved techniques should be incorporated into presentations. Famous people who were previously studied, randomly selected should also be included in the presentation.

SWITCH!

Structures made of wood and glue should be made. The structure must then be tested in two different orientations. Items that can serve more than one item (item SWITCH) must be entered. The 2 elements of the selected team will be rated as a side trip.

History TwisDId

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team must take an event from history and change what really happened. A song should be included in the show. Four different forms should be used to make prop.

Season 2008-2009

In the 2008-2009 Season, Imagination Goals began offering service-learning projects to challengesOUTREACH.

Co-operation

2 machines must be created by the team. Both machines must perform joint tasks. No AC power can be used in presentations. A story about cooperation in other countries should be presented. 2 elements selected by the team will be judged as a side trip.

Instinct Messaging

A story of intercultural communication is required. A "Featured Creature" must be learned by the team. A team that creates a costume should help communicate the message of the creature being displayed. A 3-D set piece should depict the habitat of the creature displayed. 2 elements selected by the team will be judged as a side trip.

ViDIo Lit Hits

The team had to make live music videos, with the team creating lyrics and choreography, which retelled a literary work. By using technical methods, teams must enter or exit in a magnificent manner. The character of the selected literature section should be described dramatically. 2 elements selected by the team will be judged as a side trip.

Private IN

Over a 30-minute period, teams had to sketch 6 minutes about randomly selected superstitions. Sketches should be presented using 3 different randomly selected movie genres. The origin of the detective should be presented. The team must create a physical device to detect the origin of superstition. Randomly selected surprises should be incorporated into the story.

New Angle!

A fully-made two-piece structure made of wood and glue should be made by the team. A story about combining 2 art forms should be presented beside the structure. 2 elements selected by the team will be judged as a side trip.

Hidden!

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. A game in which the character solves the problem should be presented.

Fetch Loading

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. Teams must present their projects in a tournament.

Season 2009-2010

Arrange DIposit

The equipment must be created by the team to move the object to the target on the other side of the barrier. Different number of different high and low risk targets can be chosen by the team. High-risk targets mean that teams must send fewer objects, but each object is worth more. Stories about making decisions should be presented. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

DI-Bot

The team must write a story that covers how a character's life is changed by a robot. Devices created by a team called DI-BOT should take action in the story. At least one item prop must be changed into or part of DI-BOT. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

You Will Be Open!

Teams must write and present stories about characters whose views change on something. A live doll and visual artwork should be incorporated into the presentation. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

Do or DI

A five minute comedy drama about something in danger of extinction must be made within seven minutes of the tournament. The power of randomly chosen superpowers, surprises, and stock characters should be incorporated into the comedy drama.

Solve IN News

A structure made of newspapers and glue should be made by the team to be tested in the tournament. All props and scenery, including those made only from newsprint, used in the show must fit in 30 inches by 24 inches with a 48-inch container. A story that includes news events from countries other than the team's home country should be included. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

Weighty News

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade.

Band Together

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. Projects the team has to include music. Teams must present performances in tournaments related to their projects that stimulate the various senses. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

Season 2010-2011

Unknown Moving Object

The team had to build equipment to move the object to the top of the tower, and down into the small pool. During regional competitions and affiliations, the swimming pool is empty, but in Global Finals, water is present in the pool. All equipment used for moving objects should start and finish the presentation within 20 inches by 20 inches with a 20 inch box. Sales presentations attempting to sell team equipment should be presented alongside equipment. No AC Power can be used for any part of this challenge. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

Playing a Tale

The team should write a story that can be presented 3 times to 3 imaginary audiences, using different storytelling methods. Travel methods should be included to bridge the gap between 3 separate stories from the story. A technical spectacle should be included. Mission Mythology

A 5-minute presentation of mythological creatures should be created during the 7 minute preparation time in the tournament. Cultures from different countries, 3 randomly selected souvenirs, and unexpected problems should be incorporated into the story.

Paragraphs! Foiled Again!

A structure must be made by a team of aluminum foil, wood and or glue, which will be tested how much weight can be held in the tournament. A story about how the character "thwarted" should be presented in the performance aspect of this challenge. A verse published by someone who is not in the team, and the team that makes the verses should be included in the show. Teams must include 2 elements of their presentation that they choose for a side trip assessment.

Big Bug Day

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team has to learn about bugs, and then write stories where Big Bug is having a bad day, and how his friends are trying to make it better.

Dynamic Network

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. Social media should be used as part of the project. In teams the tournament should present something based on their project.

Season 2011-2012

In Season 2011-2012 Season Rewards, Imagination changed sides of the journey to Team Choice Elements.

Assembly Required

The team must design the object to be assembled in the tournament. A vehicle must be used by the team to move parts of the object into the assembly area, and then enter the delivery area. A story about something that happened just in time should be presented as well. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Solar Stage

The team must enter solar energy, and the solar energy prototype becomes a story they write. Teams must provide their own lighting. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Come Tourist Attraction

Teams must write and present movie trailers involving at least 2 countries. The special effects of theatrical and sound tracks should be included in the show. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Tell Me

The team must create a 5-minute game during a 7-minute exercise time using a causal link to connect the 2 news. One news is randomly selected by the tournament, the other is randomly selected from the stories provided by the previous team. The whole story must be influenced by the One Minute Glitch (OMG), which is provided with one minute left in the planning time. Props and human scenery should be included.

Hold it!

Structures made only of wood and glue should be provided by the team to be tested in the tournament. The structure must also function as a golf ball holder. Golf ball delivery devices should also be created by the team. A story about a captive should be presented beside the structure. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Built to Last

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team must research the toys, and use their findings in a comedy drama about the last toy that will ever be produced.

World Canvas

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. An advertisement should be used in the project, and a brochure must be made after the project has put it.

Season 2012-2013

In Zone

The team must build between 3 to 10 small vehicles that can accurately travel to locations on the tournament floor. At least 3 separate resources should be used to power the vehicle. A story about the dangers faced by a vehicle should be presented. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Windvisible

The team must write stories that combine invisible visitors and wind energy. A team that creates kinetic art should also be combined. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

In Disguise

Teams must present stories using nonverbal communication. 2 masks should be used in the story, including one that will change in appearance. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Change in Realitee

The team has 5 minutes to make a 5 minute drama about dramatic changes in life. Teams must use T-shirts and washed markers to make props to put in their performance, as well as display communication techniques. In the final minute of preparation, the team was given three random nouns to create a slogan to be said during the show.

Twist-O-Rama

The team must create a strong structure using only certain materials. In the tournament, the team will test their structure from above and with ram impact on the side of the structure.

ROY G BIV

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade.

Real to Reel

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. A film documenting the project should be presented in a tournament. Teams must enter a live press conference into their performance using randomly selected questions, and the team gives answers.

Season 2013-2014

Dig In

The team must build equipment to detect hidden objects, to pick them up, and move them across the finish line. A story about machines that can detect things that humans also should not be presented. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Go to Extras

The team must create stories about the characters that adapt to survive in extreme environments. A piece of extreme gear should be incorporated into the story. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Laugh ART Loud

The team should examine artists from countries other than their own country, and create comic strips that represent the style of the artist. The comic panels should combine live characters. In addition, a story should be presented that utilizes a comic strip panel. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Pandemonium!

The team must present a five minute comedy based on material planned during the previous planning period. The makeup stage should increase one character. Characters of the past and the character of the present must interact. Differences in the time period and character lifestyle should be used to solve the problem.

Built Tension

The team must build a simultaneously tested structure of two different forces. A suitable prop in a predetermined space should be built team performance. A story in which tension is a problem that poses a threat to stability, and the solution. Two items from the selected team will be given an additional score as the Team Choice Element.

Pitch and Play

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. Pitch elevators should be used during presentations to community partners. Presentations should be given in tournaments that showcase the project.

Circus!

This challenge is a Rising Stars challenge created for children in kindergarten up to second grade. The team had to make a comedy drama about the circus, featuring a leader of three separate acts. In the circus, teams must use balancing objects and geometric shapes.

Season 2014-2015

The 2014-2015 season is the first to feature University Level challenges.

Recommended Creatures

This challenge calls for the team to create technical creatures that perform the actions specified by the team. A story should also be presented that features the creature as a character, and uses a technical method to set the scene. Two Elements of Team Choice are also required. Creating Waves

The team had to build an "Extraordinary Sound Machine" that made two different sounds. Two visible sound waves should be presented in a story that also includes a change of narrative speed in the story. Two Elements of Team Choice are also required. Feary Tales

The team must create a fairy tale that features characters with phobias and two works of art: one that can have physical functions and abstract meaning, and one that expresses the phobia of characters. Game Improv

Three independent improvisation sketches should be made by the team, based on research on improvisation and street performances.

Brand Help

This challenge is a projectOUTREACH challenge, which requires the team to undertake a service project that benefits the community. Graphic art should be used to create a brand for the project. The culmination of the service learning experience is presentation in a tournament, which ties together all aspects of the project in presentation format. Two Elements of Team Choice are also required. Elements of Choice This team can show the strength of any team.

This Stretch

The team in this University Level challenge can only consist of University or Academy students. In this challenge, the team must create two identical structures, which will be tested through compression and the other through compression. The team should also make presentations that show what is represented by the structure, as well as material demonstrations and pads that stretched during the show.

Instant Challenges

Upon entering the limited Instant Challenge area, teams are directed to the storage room where they submit the documents, and take the Instant Challenge Promise, which states, "We promise not to talk about ANYTHING we see, hear, do or say in the room it UNTIL AFTER FINAL GLOBAL If we heard or found to have shared this Challenge with anyone, we will be disqualified from the Tournament but we can talk about it privately between our team and Team Manager (s). " the team is directed to the Instant Challenge room, where they complete the Instant Challenge. After the Instant Challenge is complete, the team will be taken to a "casual" room, or removed from the Instant Challenge Area. In the "relaxed" room, the team can calmly discuss the Instant Challenge between them and their team manager.

Tournament

Team solutions are assessed at regional tournaments, affiliate tournaments (state, province or country), or Global Final. Every year, local volunteers help run over 200 Imagination Goal tournaments around the world.

In the tournament, the Imagination Goals team will solve two types of Challenges: Team Challenges and Instant Challenges. The team will do their Challenge solution to a group of Appraisers. Appraisal Purpose Imagination is a local volunteer who has been trained to assess Challenges.

Final Global

Imagination Goal Team that goes beyond Region & amp; Affiliate Tournaments (State/State) are invited to participate in Global Finals - "The biggest celebration of creativity in the world."

Global Finals is the culmination of every season of Imagination Goals. More than 17,000 attendees gathered at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN for a six-day event.

STEM & amp; Literacy Path for Early Learners

In October 2012, Destination Imagination formed the STEM & amp; Literacy Pathways for Early Learners (Pathways) for children 3-6 years. Using fun and exciting activities for school and at home, Pathways provides children with an initial leap in literacy and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ("STEM") concept, while promoting critical and creative thinking skills.

Every year, the author of Imagination Goals develops a Rising New Star for Early Learners Challenge. They focus on creating a fun learning environment and allowing children to be creative. These challenges are not competitive, which helps reduce the pressure and allows children to play and experiment with their solutions.
