La Jara is Statutory City in Conejos County, Colorado, United States. The population is 818 at the Census of the United States 2010.

Geography
La Jara is in the San Luis Valley area of ​​Colorado. US Route 285 passes La Jara, heading north 14 miles (23 km) to Alamosa and south 20 miles (32 km) to the New Mexico border and beyond.

In the 2000 census, there were 877 people, 313 households, and 230 families living in the city. Population density was 2,481.2 people per square mile (967.5/km ²). Racial makeup of the city is 67.27% White, 0.11% African American, 2.85% Native Americans, 27.02% of other races, and 2.74% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race is 62.94% of the population.
There were 313 households in which 38.0% had children under 18 living with them, 54.0% were married couples living together, 13.7% had non-husbands female households, and 26.5% were not family. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.6% had someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.30.
In the city, the population is spread by 31.6% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% years or more. The average age is 35 years. For every 100 females, there are 91.9 males. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 87.5 men.
