History
Shine a Light is the ninth concert album to be released by the Rolling Stones. This collection, like the two 2006 shows it's taken off, features no song performances from their 2005 album A Bigger Bang . The two-disc version featured all but two songs played on two nights; the missing number is "Undercover of the Night" (included as a bonus song in the Japanese edition and as a download on the iTunes Store) and "Honky Tonk Women".
Shine a Light featuring some guest stars: Jack White, from The White Stripes, performing in "Loving Cup"; Christina Aguilera appeared on "Live with Me"; and bluesman Buddy Guy performing at Muddy Waters' "Champagne and Reefer".
The album was very well received, especially in England, where it debuted at No. 1. 2, sold 23,013 copies in its first week - best chart position for the Rolling Stones concert album since 'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! ' in 1970. In the US, debuted at # 11 on the Billboard chart with 37,117 copies sold - the highest US band debut for a concert album since 1995 Stripped .
