Features

The main focus of the exhibition is the introduction of modern science and technology through the lens of Star Wars. Topics ranging from space travel, mechanical prosthetics, robotics, and levitation technologies as seen in hovercrafts and Maglev trains are handled through direct activities and voluntary demonstrations.

Interactive view

The exhibits include the reproduction of the Millennium Falcon cockpit, which features a four and a half minute experience of world space exploration, particularly unmanned exploration of planets farther from our sun. systems, and hundreds of exoplanets that have been discovered. This experience is narrated by Anthony Daniels, who plays C-3PO, and with some extra effects in the cockpit (rumbling chair, fan, and lights) is meant to simulate the appearance of actually traveling through space and looking out from the cockpit views screen. This exhibition is not included in the version at Powerhouse Museum.

The "Living on Tatooine" section of this exhibition features three additional reality kiosks where visitors interact with virtual environments on a large screen. The environment includes reflection of visitor shadows and computer-generated elements from the Star Wars universe embedded in the properties in the video. Visitors move physical properties to complete complexity-building tasks to build communities in three simulated environments. This kiosk was developed by ARToolworks, Inc. When users interact with props, users and props appear on the video but once placed, the video takes over the entire screen, the visuals disappear and the interaction between the computer-generated elements is modified by their relative position.

Also included in the initial 14 places from 20 places this tour is the Robot Object Theater. This interactive presentation on robotics narrated by C-3PO shows some special-purpose robots mocked (pipe inspection and welding) and compares it with Star Wars robots, soccer robots and Kismet (robots). This provides an interesting insight into some current thinking on how to improve the usefulness of robotics and the nature of the interaction between robots and humans.

Tools and costumes

The exhibition includes a large number of props, costumes and models, including Yoda dolls, C-3PO, "Naked" C-3PO, R2-D2, Darth Vader helmets three parts of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith , as well as X-wing models, Millennium Falcon and more used in movies. There are also costumes for Mace Windu, Princess Leia, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and stormtroopers, and lightsabers belonging to Luke, Obi-Wan, Darth Maul, and Count Dooku, among many costumes, props, and other models. On January 16th, Boba Fett's costume was added to replace the Chewbacca costume.

Other features

There is also a multimedia tour that uses a PDA to provide not only audio content, but also video and still images, adding to the visitor experience. The PDA has a "bookmark" feature, which allows visitors to send emails to special features of the exhibit to their email address. The exhibition also includes a number of documentary videos on Star Wars technology and the comparison of real-world technology with the world of Star Wars .
