The 2014 Teen Choice Awards ceremony was held on August 10, 2014 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The event was originally scheduled to take place at UCLA Pauley Pavilion, which was flooded by a broken water pipe on July 29, 2014 near the campus. It was broadcast on Fox from 8:00 to 10:00 pm ET live/PT tape-delayed. The award celebrates this year's achievements in music, movies, television, sports, fashion, comedy, and the internet, and is selected by audiences aged 13 to 19. Selena Gomez was awarded the Grand Choice Award during the show.
One Direction was the biggest winner of the night, winning all ten awards they nominated (including awards given to Harry Styles and one dedicated to their fans). The Fault in Our Stars won all seven nominations as well, including four awards for Ansel Elgort.

Kontroversi voting
Tweets from nominations from newly added Internet categories raised questions among viewers when the Choice Viner Cameron Dallas tweeted to his three million followers that he was told to win his Teen Choice Award 6 days before the vote ended. Matt Espinosa, another candidate that night also voiced his opinion when he tweeted, "Basically they pick people almost 6 days before the vote is over and use us all for promotion." The two viders removed their tweets shortly afterwards. However, teenagers continue to show their anger. Tweets about the voting process flooded Twitter as many disillusioned voters expressed their opinions on the fixed outcome. However, the TCA rules state that, "Teenasaurus Rox is entitled to select the winner of the top four sound generators." Speculation about the significance of teen voice continues unabated because it is not sure who actually has the most votes in each category.
