Bury Hatchet is the fourth studio album by Irish rock band The Cranberries, released on April 19, 1999. In the US, the album has sold 377,000 copies in April 2007 and received gold certification on June 2, 1999.
This album is the first album released by the band after their first hiatus, which started in 1996. Dolores has taken time to cure the illness caused by stress, and also has her first child, Taylor, during this period. This last fact is reflected in some of the songs on the album, especially on "Animal Instinct" and "You and Me".
The theme of the song varies from childbirth and children to divorce and child abuse. The album cover, designed by Storm Thorgerson, is then featured on the Pitchfork Media list of "The Worst Record Covers of All Time", which states "Storm Thorgerson's artwork fluctuates between iconic and crazy. This belongs to the latter category."

Track list
CD
All the lyrics are written by Dolores O'Riordan; all music composed by O'Riordan and Noel Hogan except tracks 3, 8, 10, 13 and 14 by O'Riordan.
Vinyl
The vinyl version has a different track sequence (this is maintained in 2015 reissue). Not yet explained why this was done, because it was not done for a reason of time. However, it reflects the way Cranberries's earlier release featured a slow ballad as the third track, which did not happen with the CD version, which featured a louder song "Promise" as the third track:
