Plot
Evan Danielson (Eddie Murphy) is a very successful financial adviser, who has worked in the same securities firm for eight years as their top account manager, until Johnny Whitefeather (Thomas Haden Church) was hired as his rival. Whitefeather seems to have the whole company under the spell as he emits a plausible idiom filled with native American nonsense. These top executives seem more satisfied with singing Indian-style voices than listening to how they can make money through sound investments.
When Evan finally found out that his daughter, Olivia (Yara Shahidi), somehow could tell the future in the financial world by using the comfort blanket of 'goo-gaa' and his imaginary friends (Queen Qwali and Princess Kupida, Sopida and Mopida), he found he had the invaluable top hand now in the office.
In order for Evan to ask these imaginary friends, every question he had to go through the imaginary world, through dense forest, past a dragon, through a cave, and even walk through France. Previously, Evan who was part time father really did not have time for his daughter, is now forced to play with him and with his rules. After just a few days with her, she rediscovered the child inside her and really had fun playing this imaginary game with Olivia.
Whitefeather became suspicious and began searching for Evan's secret. When he learned that Evan was just playing with a blanket, he bought a six-thousand-dollar blanket and forced his son to tell him "the future" and made him very hyperactive by making him drink lots of Red Bull cans.
Whitefeather and Evan are now competing for positions leading to the company's Western division D.D.E. In order to be ready for the most important presentation of his life, Evan must once again use the Goo-Gaa blanket and meet the princesses. The only problem was that Olivia spent the night at her friends' house, and there was no way for Evan to get Goo-Gaa without taking it from her.
Also, presentations will be held on Olivia class playing days. Evan manages to get Olivia to give him Goo-Gaa, but he immediately looks crying because he only cares about the blanket, not him. Evan went home and tried to get the princess's attention. Evan then began to work on his presentation. As the hour passed, he stretched, and Goo-Gaa fell to the floor, but he continued to work unconsciously.
Evan decided to go to the presentation rather than Olivia's class concert. Johnny gave his presentation, but his idea was too crazy for the company owner. Then it was Evan's turn. When he will be present, he suddenly decides to go to Olivia's class concert, and leaves the presentation. As he drove, he transformed into a king's costume. Back at the class concert, Olivia will sing her solo part, then suddenly Evan appears dressing up as king, and Olivia starts to sing, happy to see her.
After the class concert, Evan starts talking to Olivia about how sorry she is for abusing her blanket, ignoring her, and for using the girls for the wrong reasons. Meanwhile, the company owner, D.D.E. appeared, and wanted to talk to Evan. He and Evan talk, and he decides to give Evan a position because of how much Evan cares for his family. Evan accepted. Evan returns to Olivia, for whom it's time to say goodbye to the princesses. They both start to wave, and as the wind blows, some leaves form a person and then fly into the sky. Evan, Olivia's mother, and Olivia leave happily.
