Imagine Argentina is an award-winning novel by American writer Lawrence Thornton, about the 1970s Dirty War in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the military government abducted those who opposed his government. Cecilia, a dissident journalist, was kidnapped by the secret police to join the "disappearing" ranks, for her husband Carlos, a theater director, searched frantically for her and others through "imagining" their fate in prisons and cells.
In 2003, the novel was adapted into the film by British director Christopher Hampton.
