Plot

Simon Spier is a confined gay gay boy studying in high school in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. She has a close and loving family: Emily and Jack's parents, and Nora's sister, and three friends: Nick and Leah, whom she knows most of her life, and newcomer Abby.

One day, Leah told Simon about the online recognition of a closed gay student in their high school, known simply as a "Blue" pseudonym. As "Jacques", Simon starts communicating with him via email. Two personal details that tell and form connections. However, their email was accidentally discovered by another student, Martin, who is crazy about Abby. After knowing his secret, Martin blackmail Simon by threatening to send his email to the public unless he agrees to help Martin win Abby. Simon begins to suspect that his classmate, Bram, is Blue.

At the Halloween party, Simon tries to get in touch with Bram but then walks over him making out with a female student. Simon lies to Nick, tells her that Abby has a boyfriend in college. Leah walks back to Simon's house, where she speaks unclearly about how she feels that she's destined to love one person intensely; Simon believes he's referring to Nick.

Simon meets with Abby and Martin at a local restaurant after he convinces them to practice a shared line for upcoming music events. Simon binds to their server, a classmate named Lyle, and believes that Lyle might be Blue. That night, Simon comes out to Abby and is relieved when he reacts positively.

At a school football game, Simon crosses the path with Lyle; before he can summon the courage to ask whether Lyle is Blue, he knows Lyle is interested in Abby. An annoyed Simon says Martin is bothering to "go big or go home" when dating Abby. Martin interrupted the anthem and announced his feelings to Abby. When Abby confesses she does not share her feelings, Martin is humiliated and becomes the subject of intense ridicule.

On Christmas Eve, to distract people from his own humiliation, Martin leaves Simon by posting his email on the school gossip site. Simon's sister, Nora, tries to calm Simon, but he closes it and does not restore his friend's frantic texts. Simon comes to his parents on Christmas morning, to surprise them but reception.

After the holidays, Nick and Abby, now in pairs, angrily confronted Simon about the lies he was telling and learned that he had tried to separate them because of Martin's blackmail. Leah confides in Simon that she fell in love with him, not Nick, and was annoyed that she'd come to Abby first. After being denied by his friends, Simon receives the last email from Blue, who is annoyed that their email has been leaked. Blue tells Simon that they should stop talking and delete their email accounts. Simon was devastated, losing his friends and also a mysterious pen friend he had loved.

In the cafeteria, Simon and an open gay student, Ethan, were ridiculed by two classmates. Ethan and Simon bind the difficulties they face. After his parents reached out and comforted him, Simon apologized to Leah. Simon posts recognition on the gossip website apologizing to his friends, looking for Blue and asking him to meet at the school carnival.

After school musicals, Leah, Nick and Abby make amends with Simon and invite him to go to the carnival with them. Waiting for Blue at the carnival, Simon drove the Ferris wheel, attracting a large crowd of colleagues. When Simon ran out of tickets, Martin, mending his behavior, bought him one more trip. Just before the journey began, Bram sat next to Simon, revealing himself as Blue; the kiss Simon had seen with the girl was a drunken misunderstanding. They drove the Ferris wheel together and kissed as their friends encouraged them.

Simon's life gradually returned to normal and he started a relationship with Bram. While picking up friends and boyfriends for school, Simon suggests that they cancel their morning routine and instead "go on a little adventure".

Production

The subject of photography begins on March 6, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia. The filming officially ends on April 23, 2017.

Conscious of how expensive the cost of music in the movie, Berlanti made the decision to end the filming two days early. From that decision, he said, "I know that many films are made in tribute to a movie that has a great soundtrack that, at my age, you will play the tape again and again until it will run out." Soundtrack is what makes you feel the emotion of the movie so it's always on my wish list to have a soundtrack that reflects that. It's so expensive that everyone wants to make sure I do the right thing.I want more money to put in the music.
