Beautiful Rogues is an erotic romance novel by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings under the pen name of Christina Lauren. The book was originally published online as a fictional Twilight fan titled The Office , with Simon & amp; Schuster bought the publishing rights to the series.
This book is followed by three sequels (Beautiful Stranger, Beautiful Player, and Beautiful Secret), as well as three novellas ( Beautiful Jalang i>, Beautiful Bomb , and Beautiful Start ).

Plot
Beautiful Bastard follows Chloe Mills, a hardworking and MBA student working under her supervisor, Bennett Ryan. Both are constantly at loggerheads with each other, the tense relationship that begins the first time the two meet. Bennett is attracted to Chloe, but acts decisively against him. He is independent and strong-willed and the first person to really support him. Their relationship came to the head one night when both were late for a spontaneous practice speech on the account he was working on. Speech quickly turned into a sexual encounter, the first of many couples in an office building. Despite the oath from each of them that the affair will not continue, Bennett and Chloe continue to walk to each other in places like La Perla lingerie shop. Chloe is concerned over the nature of the relationship, fearing that it would jeopardize her future career if her sexual relationship with Bennett came out. Meanwhile, Bennett finds himself increasingly more possessive than Chloe, especially after his mother attempts to mend himself with Joel Cignoli, a family friend. The relationship finally comes to a head when Chloe has to go to care for his father after he finds a tumor in his stomach, which encourages Bennett to realize that his feelings for Chloe are more than sexual and that he can not fully operate without him.. When he returned the two went to a convention in San Diego, where they resumed their affairs. After Bennett was forced to stay in the hotel room due to food poisoning, Chloe had to handle an important presentation with a client, which she ace. The height of emotion from the last few days was shattered, however, when he overhears Bennett supposedly taking credit for a successful presentation. This prompted him to break up with Bennett and submit his resignation from the company, which destroyed Bennett. Chloe managed to get another job at a different company for her student project, but at an official presentation to the school board she met with Bennett, who confessed her love for her. He then presents two portfolios for his student project, a very fun school board. The book ends with Chloe and Bennett reconciling and continuing their relationship.

Development
Hobbs initially started working on the story in 2009 under the title The Office . Office was well received online but was removed by Hobbs because he perceived the popularity of the story as "a bit of an exaggeration". Hobbs began writing with Billings in 2010 and after realizing the increasing popularity of the story after the publication of Fifty Shades of Gray , decided to rewrite and publish the story as Beautiful Bastard . Hobbs and Billings have stated that they have extensively reworked the The Office storyline, claiming that only 20% of the original book remains in Beautiful Bastard .
Office has been credited by a University of Utah professor as "[paving] the way for 'Fifty Shades' and thousands of other imitators.Apparently the fiction of 'porn without plot' fans becomes 'porn as plotting,'".
Movie adaptation
On February 11, 2013 it was announced that Constantin Film had acquired the rights to Beautiful Bastard for the purpose of turning it into a movie. Jeremy Bolt is confirmed as a producer for the film. Stephanie Sanditz has been hired by Constantin Film to write a film adaptation of Beautiful Bastard.
Reception
Beautiful Bastard is a finalist for Best Romance of 2013 at the Goodreads Choice Awards.
The RT Book Review gives Star three stars, saying that while the book "is filled with lots of hot sex and tension is hissing between Bennett's boss and Chloe's employees", alternate viewpoints "proved to distract from giving depth" and that "the rate at which the couple hates each other for most stories makes hasty resolutions hard to believe."
