Ringkasan plot

The episode begins with Cartman directing other boys through the forest to look for leprechaun. A skeptical Kyle was there, having made a bet that if Cartman could prove the existence of a leprechaun, Kyle would suck a Cartman ball, but otherwise Cartman would owe Kyle $ 10. To Kyle's shock, they did place leprechaun and chase. They finally caught him in a trap. Leprechaun says he was sent to warn of terrorist attacks, and that being chased by boys has made him late, before disappearing. A Cartman winner declares that Kyle should now suck his ball, but Kyle initially refused, asking why leprechaun would warn of a terrorist attack and insist that there should be a logical explanation. The next day, when Kyle chatted with Stan, Kenny, Jimmy, and Butters, a strange man suddenly appeared, asking if they had seen the leprechaun. When Kyle thought that leprechaun was a fantasy, the man told him that just because something was imaginary did not mean it was not real. He then invites the boys to ride their magical "Fantasy Imagination Machine" while accompanying them with "The Imagination Song" (consisting only of the word 'imagination' sung repeatedly in various tone changes).

The group arrives at a place called Imaginationland, where all the creatures created by the human imagination are. Imaginary beings are all fascinated by the presence of "creators", and ask them about leprechaun. At that time a group of Islamic terrorists suddenly appeared and launched a series of bombs, which killed hundreds of fantasy creatures and destroyed most of the city, with Stan watching. The boys ran behind Draco who flew them to safety. However, the butter is left behind, and he and the imaginary characters still alive are held hostage by the terrorists. The next morning, Kyle wakes up in his bed, and at first believes everything might be a dream - until he calls Stan who tells the same story. They also discover that Butters is missing, much to the surprise of his parents.

Meanwhile, Cartman, angry that Kyle refused to fulfill his share of their deal, took Kyle to court, where the judge saw Kyle's contract signed and ordered Kyle to suck a Cartman ball in twenty-four hours or he would be arrested. The United States Department of Defense has received videos from terrorists, showing that they are holding suspected invaders, including Butters. Butter read the notes from the terrorists at gunpoint, and shouted to Stan and Kyle as the video ended. Not sure how to fight terrorists, they turn to Hollywood, hoping they can use their creativity to get an idea. After being let down by several directors, including M. Night Shyamalan, who could only come up with the finishing touches, and Michael Bay, who could only come up with a series of special effects, they sought advice from Mel Gibson, who suggested they check the videos sent by terrorists and determine if anyone in them is somehow unsuitable. Officials at the Pentagon immediately conducted a background check on the video and realized that Butters was not an imaginary character. The general orders his men to look for Stan and Kyle.

In Imaginationland, the terrorists take on one of the creatures, "Rocket Rocket", and launch it in the "Barrier", the wall that separates the good and evil parts of Imaginationland. Despite Butters' attempts to stop them, the terrorists smash the walls and release the evil imaginary creature. Cartman, meanwhile, donned the robe of the Sultan and had a big party, where the other kids would watch Kyle suck his ball. Kyle had resigned to the task, and would walk to Cartman's house with Stan when the military members arrived and took them away for questioning about Imaginationland. Cartman shouted angrily about his plans being thwarted, then quickly left home and boarded a truck driver to Washington, D.C. to force Kyle to meet the end of the bet. She ended the episode saying, "Make no mistake, Kyle, before this is over, you'll suck my ball."

Production

Production for the episode began in July 2007, nearly three months before the last airing. This is unusual for South Park because most episodes are produced in a week or less. The original intention was to make the story into a long movie, but there were many factors that caused it to be a regular episode: they did not feel it was a "big idea", and the use of licensed characters made it derivative. In addition, the driving schedule of producing new episodes contributed to his adoption as a mid-season show.

On Monday before this episode broadcast, Parker decided to make this episode a trilogy. Stone was pleased to make the three-part, like many television dramas at the time - 24 , Lost - based on serialization. The day after "Imaginationland Episode I" aired, Parker completed the rest of the trilogy story quickly: "I remember that Thursday morning wrote every tap of the show on the board. This is the first time on Thursday I stepped back from the board and the whole show was there. It feels great. "

Shortly after "Imaginationland" was originally aired, the site also featured a hooded T-shirt and t-shirt based on the episode. It displays Butters in a floating bubble, asking, "Should I be the key?"

Cultural reference

Mayor Imaginationland is a pastiche of two characters. Her aspect of appearance and "Song of Imagination" alludes to both Dreamfinder of Disney Trips into Imagination and to Master's Sophistication of the Chinese Killing.

The scene after the bomb exploded in Imaginationland, quietly demonstrating the destruction, is a parody of the beach storm scene at Sested Private Ryan.

Creators use TV shows 24 and Battlestar Galactica as templates for plotting trilogy structures.
